Nuno Felted Cowls

These cowls are hand-felted by Shannon on a silk base of habotai, margilan, or chiffon. The silk is hand-dyed on the farm. The silk provides the foundation for adding alpaca rovings from our herd and select merino, silk, and bamboo add-ins. The result is a one-of-a-kind light-weight cowl with a generous height of between 13" and 15". The cowl can be worn at its full height, turned inside, or turned out to feature the silk interior. A unique and striking gift, this cowl can be hand-washed in cool water with gentle detergent or shampoo.
Homegrown
Do not put alpaca in hot water, agitate it, or dry in a dryer or on a heat source.
Soak in room temperature water with gentle detergent or shampoo for 30 minutes, rinse, gently squeeze away excess water, and lay flat to dry.
Wipe soiled area with a damp cloth free from soap, and allow it to air dry. Gently brush fur when dry and shake to fluff.
