When novice knitters and crocheters began asking us to provide patterns that had been tried and tested with yarn that would meet pattern specifications exactly, we looked to DROPS, a Norwegian brand. Their website DROPS Design provides a wide variety of patterns designed especially for their yarns. At a lower price point than our homegrown yarns, DROPS provides a great opportunity to produce beautiful alpaca creations even if you're a brand-new maker.
DROPS Alpaca Bouclé is a lovely effect worsted/aran-weight yarn spun from 2 strands of superfine alpaca with a core of wool and polyamide that gives the yarn its strength. Its natural fibers are untreated, which means that they are only washed and not exposed to any chemical treatment. This highlights the fiber’s natural properties, while it also provides a better shape and texture quality.
“Bouclé” is the French word for a loop and it refers to the number of small loops of pure alpaca that give the yarn its characteristic look and enhance the softness of the fibre. Garments made in DROPS Alpaca Bouclé are light and very fluffy.

Do not put alpaca in hot water, agitate it, or dry in a dryer or on a heat source.
Soak in room temperature water with gentle detergent or shampoo for 30 minutes, rinse, gently squeeze away excess water, and lay flat to dry.
Wipe soiled area with a damp cloth free from soap, and allow it to air dry. Gently brush fur when dry and shake to fluff.
